Today I just found out that Dave Stevens, the creator of the Rocketeer, passed away.  Just 52, still a young artist. I met him back in 2002 at Dragon*Con. When I had arrived later than I wished to the con, the former missus and I went to the bar to get a drink. When she went to look for a table she ended up sharing it with three guys. Bob Burden (Flaming Carrot creator), David Spurlock ( Frank Frazetta's agent) and Dave Stevens. We hung out with them till late into the night and Bob and Spurlock got Dave to actually sign a drawing he did of her. Over the weekend of the con we became familiar with Dave and he gave her much free stuff of his and eventually paid her to model for his next sketchbook. I have been familiar with the Rocketeer for a long time because of my love for comics and any writer or artist that passes away...I feel their passing. So Dave Come back when your afterlife journey is over.
